Carol Turner Atkinson

Carol Turner Atkinson resides in Hartsville, SC with her husband Mike. She is a native of Lake City, SC

Receive BA from Coker  in 1973 majoring in Mathematics & Psychology and received MS in Mathematics from Clemson University in 1975

Early career included management science systems analyst for banking industry and math instructor at Francis Marion, Coker and Limestone Universities and SC Governor’s School for Math and Science

Carol started Quality Management Systems in 1985 and has provided statistical consulting and training since that time.

Community engagement:

o President of Coker University Alumni Association

o Served 3 terms on Coker University Alumni Association Board

o Served on Coker University Visitors Board

o Coker Society member

o Helped with construction on Habitat for Humanity homes and served on Board Directors

of Darlington County Habitat for Humanity and acted as Treasurer

o Acted as house team co-captain with her husband  Mike Atkinson on “Christmas in April” homes

o Co-managed with Mike Atkinson the material acquisition and distribution team for “Christmas in April” (1 year)

o Worked on house construction for “Homes for Hartsville”

o Served on Board of Trustees, Administrative Board, Nominations Committee of St. Luke

UMC, Hartsville, SC

o Taught children’s Sunday school class and acted as adult leader of MYF (youth

fellowship) at Highland Park UMC, Florence, SC

o President of Pee Dee Section of ASQ (American Society of Quality)

o Chaired organizational committee for Pee Dee Quality Conference sponsored by ASQ

o Volunteered for “Each One Teach One” teaching adults to read

o Participated in “Leadership Pee Dee” and facilitated a group the following year

o Volunteer in support of Blue Ridge Relay
