As a family member of a Coker student, you are officially part of our extended Cobra family. We are pleased to welcome you to Coker University! 

We’ve collected some resources to help you get involved and stay informed during your student’s time with us (although we hope you’ll stay in touch long after their graduation day)! 

The transition to college is a big adjustment—not just for new students, but for their loved ones, too! We know you have questions, and we’ll try to answer a few of them here for easy reference.


Join us for a weekend of fun and family time! See the schedule below for details about the weekend’s events. 


8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. – Coker University Store open in Student Center

4:00 p.m.6:30 p.m. Coker University Student Homecoming Celebration! A campus-wide event for students, faculty, staff, alumni, families, and the community on the lawn behind Davidson Hall. Lots of free food (BBQ sliders, home fries, banana pudding and more!), games and attractions, music, free Coker University t-shirts, and Coker swag giveaways! We’ll also be announcing our 2019 Homecoming Court and Royalty honorees.  

6:30 – 8:00 p.m. – Team Store open in DeLoach

7:00 p.m. – Women’s Volleyball vs Lenoir-Rhyne in DeLoach

7:00 p.m.The Crucible in Watson Theater

7:00 – 10:00 p.m. – Alumni Social in DeLoach Cobra Club Room. Complimentary appetizers, beer, and wine. Hosted by Angie Stanland, Chairman, and the Board of Trustees of Coker University. 


9:30 a.m. – Fall Alumni Association Board meeting (Drengaelen House)

9:30 a.m. – Mens Soccer alumni game

10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. – Tailgate area is open.

All-day tailgate with complimentary snacks, water, and chances to win some Coker swag, all located next to the batting cages on 2nd street, on the other side of the parking lot. So be sure and look for the tailgate tent, which will feature some special guests throughout the day…
11:00 a.m. -11:45 a.m. –  Michael Antoniewicz, men’s soccer head coach; Antonio Carrabotta, men’s soccer assistant coach; Michael Ritterback, men’s soccer assistant coach, and members of the men’s soccer team
12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Dan Schmotzer, former men’s basketball head coach
1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. – Jarred Merrill, men’s basketball head coach; Shannon Johnson, women’s basketball head coach; Michala Hash, women’s basketball assistant coach; Elvis Kisonas, men’s basketball assistant coach; Ron Apke, men’s basketball assistant coach; and players from the men’s and women’s basketball teams
3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. – Travis McCall, softball head coach; Mackenzie Drain, softball assistant coach; Siara Shelton, softball assistant coach; Bob McLaughlin, baseball assistant coach; Adam Vasil, baseball assistant coach; and members of the softball and baseball teams. 
And starting at 4:00pm, there will be free food and beer in the tailgating tent! 

10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.Fest da Ville Family Fun in Burry Park

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Coker University Store open in Student Center

10:00 a.m. – Wrestling practice; viewing for alums

10:30 a.m. – Men and Women’s Basketball alumni game

11:00 a.m. – Women’s Lacrosse alumni game

11:30 a.m. – Legacy Lunch for alums who are parents of current Coker students

12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. – Kids Play Area (staffed by Coker’s Spirit Squad) in the practice field. There will be inflatables, face-painting, and more! 

12:00 p.m. Baseball alumni game

12:00 p.m. – Softball alumni game

12:30 p.m. – Men’s Lacrosse alumni game

1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. – Team store open in DeLoach

2:00 p.m. – Women’s Volleyball vs Mars Hill in DeLoach (WVB alumni recognition)

4:00 p.m. – FREE food and beer in the tailgating tent! 

4:30 p.m. – Women’s Soccer vs Catawba

7:00 p.m. – Men’s Soccer vs Catawba

7:00 p.m.The Crucible in Watson Theater

9:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. – Coker University Foam Party on the Davidson Lawn – students only.


2:00 p.m. – Softball vs U.S.C. Gamecocks Scrimmage

Coker holds an annual Family Weekend, providing you with fun-filled activities and plenty of time to spend with your student in their college environment.

Many of our students’ family members and loved ones enjoy participation in our Coker University Parents Facebook group. As a member, you’ll be able to virtually meet other Coker families and open the lines of communication with the broader Coker community.

We know you’re eager to learn about your student’s life here at Coker—but we’re also mindful that this is a time of growing independence for the students themselves. With that in mind, we’ve compiled some information about student data legislation like FERPA (the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act), what we’re able to share with you, and types of information that we are unable to disclose.



The Coker campus isn’t just for students! We host a number of events that are open to the local  community, including performances in theatre, music, or dance, art gallery exhibits, athletic competitions, summer camps, and more!

Did you know that Coker owns and operates a 35-acre public botanical garden in our hometown of Hartsville? Swing by Kalmia Gardens at 1624 West Carolina Avenue to enjoy the historic Hart House, our beautiful nature trails, and the magnificent Black Creek. Kalmia also serves as an outdoor classroom, event space for rent, and a local gateway to the Segars-McKinnon Heritage Preserve.
