COKER SCHOLARSHIPS

Institutional Scholarships

The Algernon Sydney Sullivan scholarship will be granted to one freshman this year. The amount is worth $5,000.  Except in unusual circumstances, a student awarded a Sullivan Scholarship will continue to receive that scholarship until he or she graduates from Coker, a maximum of four (4) years.

The Sullivan scholarships will be focused on those individuals who have consistently shown that they will actively and in a hands-on personal manner, service the needs of others and their community.

Applicants are required to submit:

  • A 500 to 1,000 word essay demonstrating a thoughtful reflection on the applicant’s meaningful contribution to and positive impact on the community, the role of this contribution in the applicant’s development and personal viewpoints, and the applicant’s continued commitment to service, and
  • Two letters of recommendation from non-family members describing the character of the applicant and the applicant’s history and commitment to service-based activities.
  • Essays and letters of recommendation are due on or before February 1st at 5:00 PM to the Office of Admissions at admissions@coker.edu
