Congratulations on being admitted to Coker University! The following checklist will help make sure you have a smooth transition to your new life as a Cobra:

  • If you plan to live on campus in our Residence Halls, send us your $150 deposit to secure your place. This will also serve as your room damage/lost key deposit. (See “Apply for housing” below for more housing information.)
  • If you are a commuter and live at home, send us your $50 advanced tuition deposit to reserve your place in the class.

First Time College Students

  • Don’t forget to send us your final high school transcript, IB and/or AP scores, and any dual credit transcripts. These must be ordered from the college where you received your dual enrollment credits. The College Board code for Coker University is 003427. Be sure to include this code to have your AP or IB scores sent to Coker.

After you’re admitted, you will be given access to the Coker University WebAdvisor program. WebAdvisor is your electronic gateway to almost everything you will need as a Coker student.. As an admitted student, you will be able to:

  1. See your admissions status
  2. Review all financial aid that has been posted to your account

If you need assistance logging into your account, please call our IT support line at 843.383.8323 (Monday-Friday 8:30am- 5:00pm).  IT will need to verify your information so that we can help you with any questions or issues you may have while trying to access your account.

Coker University is a residential campus. Coker University requires all full-time, undergraduate day students with fewer than 90 credit hours by the start of the fall semester to live in campus housing unless Student: 1) has completed 90+ credit hours by the start of the fall semester; 2) is 22 years of age or over by August 16, 2019; or 3) lives with parents, legal guardians, grandparents, or spouse residing within 30 miles of the Hartsville Campus. Students entering their first semester at Coker University who are 23 or older by August 16, 2019 are not eligible for campus housing. Students under age 17 on August 16, 2019 are not permitted to live in campus housing.

All residential students must complete the Housing Agreement.

Room and roommate assignments are sent to your Coker University email in early January from the Office of Residence Life. The Office of Residence Life makes every effort to honor student preferences, but room assignments are made based on the date your Admissions Deposit is received and completion of your Housing Agreement.

  • Once your deposit is received, your Coker email account will be active. Our Information Technology Office will establish your personal Coker email address. All Coker students, faculty and staff have a Coker email address. Your email address is essential to be able to receive communication from Coker. If you are a residential student, you must use your Coker email address in order to receive your room assignment.
  • Please reference the Welcome Packet from the Dean of Student Success mailed to your home address for your login information (packets will begin being mailed near the end of October).

  • Have a smartphone? Be sure to download the Google Mail app so you can easily stay up to date on all things happening at Coker!

All new students will be required to complete AlcoholEDU & Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates.  An email will go out from the Student Success Center with information on how to access the course in December. The online course uses an engaging, thoughtful approach to provide students with the tools needed to navigate the risks of life in college.

All residential students must provide updated immunization records. Guidelines on submitting immunizations records can be accessed here.

Student-athletes should click here for the athletic department’s specific medical information required for participating in athletics.

Balances should be paid by January 3, 2020.

While you will have the opportunity to pay your bill at check-in, skip the lines by paying before. Students can pay the bill online via Webadvisor. Please note that account statements can be viewed by logging into WebAdvisor and clicking on “My Account Statement” located within the “Financial Information” section.

New students are also required to complete the Financial Student Responsibility and Contact Consent Form before attending check-in. You will find that form here.

  • Students who have a car on campus will need to register this vehicle and display a parking decal on the car. Your parking decal will be available at CobraQuest: New Student Orientation check-in or, after that, at the Student Solution Center 24 hours after you have submitted the online form.

Please complete the math placement test before arriving on campus. You will access the math placement test through Blackboard Learn LMS. Blackboard Learn LMS (Learning Management System) is where you will find your classes online. Please refer to your Welcome Packet from the Dean of Student Success with your login instructions (same as WebAdvisor & Email login). A few guidelines before you begin the math placement test:

  • You cannot place out of your general education mathematics classes. The point of this placement is to help you be more successful in your mathematics courses.
  • Please use a calculator for each exam.
  • You may take any given placement exam only once.
  • Please take some time to look at all of the review materials prior to taking any exam.
  • You may wait before taking each placement exam (you may pass the first exam, then review the MAT 101 material for a few days before taking the next exam).
  • Blackboard has made the time-bar “floating” on top of the exam. This sometimes appears in front of some content. You may need to tinker with your zooming and scrolling in order to see any question this time-bar is covering.
  • Placement results are not automatically passed to WebAdvisor, they must be manually processed. Please be patient while scores are being updated.

All new students are required to take the Navigate Coker Online class. This online class aims to educate students on the ins and outs of the Webadvsior, Blackboard, Coker email, and other technology mediums offered at Coker. New students will be enrolled in the course after December 1.

You will access the Navigate Coker Course through Blackboard Learn LMS. Blackboard Learn LMS (Learning Management System) is where you will find your classes online.

Students are issued a unique Coker University Identification (ID) card when enrolled. In addition to serving as official identification as a Coker student, the Coker University ID also provides access to the library, intercollegiate athletic events, cultural events, and speakers on campus. There is a $150 fee to replace lost or damaged ID cards.

Please email a picture (specifications listed below) to Your ID will be printed and available to you at check-in.

Here is a list of do’s and don’ts for a great ID picture:

  • Recent Color Photo taken in last six months from the waist up.
  • Head size must be between 1 inch and 1 1/2 inches.
  • Plain light colored background
  • Neutral/slight smiling facial expressions only and directly facing the camera.
  • Normal clothing. No uniforms, except for religious clothing worn daily.
  • No hats or head covering that covers hair or hairline, unless worn daily for religious purposes.
  • Face must be visible with no shadows being cast on face.
  • No headphones or similar items can be worn.
  • Prescription glasses or hearing devices normally worn may be included.
  • Dark glasses or tinted lenses non-prescription glasses are not allowed. If they are a medical need, then you may need to provide medical certification.
  • No glare on glasses.
  • Your eyes MUST be visible.

All new students are required to attend Cobra Quest: New Student Orientation beginning with move-in/check-in on Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Information regarding this event will be sent in early December.

  • The Charles W. and Joan S. Coker Library–Information Technology Center (or, LITC for the in-crowd) offers a wide range of professional and academic services for students, faculty, and staff.   • Center for Diversity Interfaith and Inclusion Education: The mission of the Center for Diversity Interfaith and Inclusion Education is to create a more inclusive campus where everyone feels welcomed, safe and respected. In pursuit of a more inclusive campus we provide: Training (LGBTQIA+ Safe Zone) & a Diversity Leadership Retreat, etc.; Sponsor and Co-sponsor programming such as speakers and panels for diversity topics and designated holidays or monthly recognitions (i.e. Black History and Women’s History Month); Work with student organizations, faculty and staff to plan and collaborate on cultural trips (SC Pride Festival, Museum Visits, Historical Sites, and culturally relevant movie/discussion night).   • Center for Health & Wellness: Operated in partnership with Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center and Palmetto Counseling, the Center for Health & Wellness provides convenient access to healthcare professionals, prescription services, select over-the-counter medications, first aid, immunizations, labwork, and mental health counselors.   • Dining Services: Coker College partners with Sodexo to provide food service for the campus community. Residential students are required to participate in one of two equally priced meal plan options: 21 meals/week with $125 in CobraCash or 14 meals/week with $250 CobraCash. Initial meal plan selections are made as a part of the Housing Agreement process. Changes to your meal plan may be made prior to drop/add. Commuter students may choose to participate in a competitively priced meal plan or pay cash at any location. To learn more about our dining options, click here.
  • Laundry Facilities: All residential students have unlimited access to laundry machines. Washers and dryers are available in each residence hall. There is no additional charge for laundry service. Visit from any on-campus computer for real-time updates on machine availability.
  • Campus Communication: All students are provided with a Coker email account and a campus mailbox. Campus mail and email are considered official means of communication for the College and are the primary methods used by faculty and staff to disseminate information to our students. As a Coker student, it is your responsibility to check both your campus mailbox and student email account regularly. Failure to read college communications sent via campus mailbox or email does not absolve you from complying with the content of these communications.
  • Campus Technology: Each residential student is provided 24 hour access to our computer network through wireless and ethernet port access points. The College also offers 60+ cable television stations from Time Warner Cable Television, including Striker Cinema Channel 2. Wireless internet is available across campus.

  • Personal Property Insurance: Coker is not responsible for loss or damage of students’ personal property; therefore, the College highly recommends students consider securing personal property insurance for their belongings. Coverage may be offered through your homeowner’s or an additional policy obtained through your insurance provider. Additionally, you may consider a policy issued from a third-party vendor, National Student Services, Inc. (
  • Coker Store: The Coker Store offers a variety of textbook purchasing options – new, used, rental and digital. The price comparison tool on our website allows you to compare our prices with the online marketplace and choose the purchase option that best meets your needs. Purchases may be made using cash, check, credit card, or, when available, Financial Aid. We also sell school supplies, Coker apparel, school spirit items, gifts, souvenirs, and drinks/snacks.
