Private graveside funeral services for Mrs. Patricia Segars Cook Thompson, 94, who entered into rest on Sunday, May 3, 2020, will be held at Westview Memorial Park Cemetery. Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is caring for the family.

Patricia was born on January 22, 1926, the daughter of Harley Winston and Annie Kelley Segars in the Kelleytown Community, Darlington County. She graduated from Hartsville High School where she was President of the Student Body and voted the Most Dependable and Best All Round. She graduated from Coker College in 1946 then taught in North Carolina where she met and married Reggie H. Cook, Wilmington, NC in 1949. They moved to Florence, SC for a number of years before settling in Walterboro.

She was brought up in Kelleytown Baptist Church, was a member of Florence First Baptist Church, and a member of Walterboro First Baptist Church since 1961. She was always active in all churches. After her husband passed away in 1965, she began working in Child Protective Services in the Department of Social Services in Walterboro. She retired in 1988.

She is survived by her only daughter Phyllis Cook Metts, son-in-law, Mark E. Metts, and her granddaughter, Laney Patricia Metts.

After serving on the Board of Connie Maxwell Children Home for a number of years, she had a deep love for the children there. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to: Connie Maxwell Children’s Home, P.O. Box 1178, Greenwood, SC 29648-1178
