Brandon Alvarez, 29, of Port Royal, South Carolina passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
Born in Fort Pierce, Florida to Leah Smith, Brandon graduated from Beaufort High School in 2015. Brandon was a talented lacrosse player; he played for the Eagles and later earned an athletic scholarship at Coker University.
Fueled by his passion for music and art, Brandon founded the band Soundhoundz. He was a young man full of humility, resilience, and genuine love. Brandon never met a stranger. He valued deep relationships, the outdoors and especially sunsets.
From Brandon’s brother, Junior Delatorre-
“Brandon was a person that always lived in the moment. He appreciated life fully every single day. He saw the beauty in things that most would see 1000 times and glance right over it. Every time he experienced something new you got to experience it with him from a different perspective. In the most beautiful and sentimental way. Brandon never met a stranger; he always wanted to get to know you and your story. He made everyone he came across felt heard & would always be the first to ask how you were doing and be the first to always offer a helping hand. We were blessed to share 29 years of life with Brandon. It gives us peace knowing he lived more than most would live in two lifetimes. He was an amazing brother, son, cousin, dog dad & friend that anyone can ask for. BT was creative, passionate, and the most selfless person we knew. As we celebrate Brandon’s life, everyone can take a page from his book on how to live life and appreciate even the simplest of things. His version of happiness didn’t involve money or materialistic items, just his guitar & his three-legged hound dog, Daisy. We’re so proud to call him our brother and so thankful Brandon left us with his beautiful songs!
I know you’re looking down on us, guitar in hand, jamming our favorite music. His memories will be with us forever until we’re all together again. I love you man and can’t wait to hug you soon!”
From Brandon’s niece, Chloe Cano-
“To know Brandon was to love him and loving him was such a blessing. I’m so grateful to have grown up with Brandon, to watch him become the beautiful person he was. He was gentle. He was kind. He was humble. He was resilient. He saw so much beauty in a world that was often so unkind to him. He helped without hesitation. He loved without limits. He served without expecting it in return. The world needs more people like Brandon. My heart grieves his absence on earth… but my soul rejoices in knowing that Brandon is in the arms of his Savior, where he always longed to be and where I will see him again.”
Brandon is survived by his mother, Leah Smith of Beaufort, SC. His brothers, Alex Cano (Tricia), Andrew Alvarez (Lauren), Justin Alvarez (Anna) and Junior Delatorre.
A memorial service will be held at Preference Cemetery in Ridgeland, SC on Friday, November 21, 2025 at 2:00 pm.
