Athletics Hall of Fame – February 6, 2016
Kaye Crook, a professor emerita of mathematics, joined the Coker faculty in 1982. An avid supporter of Coker athletics since day one on campus, she began her first term as Coker’s Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) in 1990 serving until 2002. She retired from the classroom in 2011 and was named professor emerita. She served in her second term as FAR from 2010 to 2015.
Crook was a very influential member of the Coker athletic staff as she helped the Cobras transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II in 1994-95. She also helped Coker make two conference transitions, from the Carolinas Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to Conference Carolinas in 1994-95 and from Conference Carolinas to the South Atlantic Conference in 2013-14. She served on the Conference Carolinas Executive Committee and received the Meritorious Service Award in 1996.
In addition to her duties as a professor and FAR, Crook has held numerous posts on NCAA committees, including serving on the NCAA Division II Management Council and the NCAA Division II Membership Committee. As a member of the first Management Council from 1997 to 2002, she helped create and establish the Division II governance structure and policies. She served two terms on the NCAA Division II Membership Committee, 1997 – 2002 and 2012- 2015, and was instrumental in developing and implementing the Division II provisional member education program. She was also selected to attend the NCAA FAR Fellows Institute in 2010, where she was part of an elite group that helped refine the role of the FAR and develop tools and best practices related to the FAR position.
Crook holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of North Carolina – Greensboro and a Master of Arts from East Carolina University.
