Hellen Jeanette Jackson Jackson, age 94, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. She was born on March 26, 1931, in Chambers County, Alabama, the daughter of the late Erby Jackson and Katie Sue Duffee Jackson.
Hellen graduated from Hartsville High School. She then furthered her education and graduated from Emory University and Coker University, earning her degree in Education. She established a life rooted in faith, family, and diligent effort. As a distinguished educator for over four decades at Carrollton High School and the University of West Georgia, Hellen left an enduring impact on every student under her guidance.
A devoted wife, loving sister, doting aunt, and true friend, Hellen made everyone around her feel special and loved. She poured herself into those around her, especially her community. She was the Past President of the Carroll-Heard Retired Educators Association as well as the Georgia Retired Educators Association. Hellen also served on the Board of the Friends of the Neva Lomason Library, and as a volunteer at the Barker Book Houses; this was her way of sharing with the community her love for books and literacy. Above all, Hellen loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for over 70 years, where her faith was both personal and steadfast. She loved her church and her Sunday School Class, where she taught young students about Jesus Christ for over 60 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Daniel Andrew “D.A.” Jackson; her sister, Lemerle Abbott; and her brother, Durward Jackson.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sister-in-law, Marie Ragsdale; brother-in-law, Gene McGukin; niece Jane Lee; and numerous other nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
The family will receive friends at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
