Funeral services for Constance Gardner Gandy, 94, will be held at 1 o’clock on Friday, April 7, 2017 at West Hartsville Baptist Church. The Rev. Kevin Walters will officiate with burial to follow in Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:30 pm on Thursday, April 6, 2017, at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to West Hartsville Baptist Church, 1003 West Carolina Avenue, Hartsville, SC 29550. Mrs. Gandy, widow of Claude Eugene Gandy, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 5, 2017. Born in Hartsville, SC, she was a daughter of the late James Bolin and Ruth Carter Gardner. She was a 1975 graduate of Coker University and was retired from Sonoco after 40 years of service. She served as the President of IOS and was a member of the Sonoco Old Timer’s Club. She was later employed with Saleeby & Cox Law Firm for 10 years. She was a member of West Hartsville Baptist Church. Connie served on the Pee Dee Regional Center Parent Council Board and the Darlington County Mental Health Association Board. The family would like to thank Hospice Care of South Carolina, Dr. Ken Evans, Pearlie Floyd, Garaldine Benjamin, and Dana Coe for their loving care of Mrs. Gandy. Surviving are her daughter, Connie G. (Eddie) Knotts; son, Robert “Butch” (Joyce) Gardner of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, John H. Haire, III of Hartsville, SC, Ashley B. Gardner of Charleston, SC, Jennifer G. (Kyle) Carlson of Columbia, SC, Sunni C. Cassidy of Florence, SC; great-grandchildren, John Russell Haire, Grant Cassidy, Jerod Cassidy, Andrea Cassidy, Lyvian Haire, Katie Carlson, Michael Carlson; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ruth Gardner Huggins; grandchild, Joanna R. Haire; brothers, Robert B. Gardner and James Balin Gardner.
