Title IX

As a recipient of Federal Funds, Coker University is required to comply with Title IX of the Higher Education Amendments of 1972, 20 U.S.C. §1681 et seq. (“Title IX”), which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in educational programs or activities, admission and employment. Under certain circumstances, sexual misconduct constitutes sexual discrimination prohibited by Title IX. Inquiries concerning the application of Title IX may be referred to Coker University’s interim Title IX Coordinator or to the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights. What resources are available to me if I am the victim of a Title IX violation (gender discrimination or sexual misconduct)?

COUNSELING SERVICES:  

At your request, Counseling Services will make an appointment to meet with you and/or give you referrals in the event that you request that assistance.  The counselor is a mandated confidential resource. This means the counselor will only report to the college that an offense took place and the location. Details of the event are not exposed. You may contact counseling services at 843-383-8040 or at list.counselingservices@coker.edu.

STUDENT HEALTH SERVICES:  

Student Health Services will be able to assist you with your health care needs.  The nurse can also give you a referral in the event you request that assistance. The nurse is a mandated confidential resource. This means the nurse will only report to the college that an offense took place and the location. Details of the event are not exposed. CAMPUS SAFETY:  

Safety officers can assist you at any time if you feel you are unsafe, if you need assistance filing criminal charges or if you would like to speak with a victim’s advocate. You may contact Campus Safety at 843-383-8140 or list.campussafety@coker.edu.  If you are in need of immediate assistance, call 843-383-8140 or 843-616-2762.
