Ryan Frasier Smith is an Assistant Professor of Music at Coker College where he teaches theory and piano courses. As a performer, Dr. Smith has performed solo and collaborative recitals across the Southeast. He has recently appeared at the Columbia Museum of Art, Piccolo Spoleto Festival, the Palmetto Theatre, and was a winner in the Bob Jones University-University of South Carolina Recital Exchange Competition. He has also performed for a number of concert series and colleges. He also performed in Carnegie Hall in New York City under the auspices of Christian Music Presenters.

Dr. Smith is a member of the South Carolina Music Teachers Association where he serves on the Executive Committee. He is also an active member of Hartsville Piano Festival Association and the Music Teachers National Association. Dr. Smith’s students have won numerous awards and scholarships. In addition to performing, Ryan is a frequent adjudicator and collaborative pianist. He has performed recitals with a number of concert artists in the South, including a recent Liederabend with Dr. Serena Hill-LaRoche.

Dr. Smith completed his doctoral studies at the University of South Carolina in Piano Performance and a minor in Music History where he studied with Charles Fugo. He graduated from Furman University with a B.M. in Piano Performance and earned a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies at Dallas Theological Seminary. He has recently coached with Sheila Paige and Ann Schein. His teachers include Ruby Morgan and Marina Lomazov.
