RECENT COURSE OR CURRENT PROJECT:
ENG 372: Creative Nonfiction
The emphasis in this advanced composition course will be on creative nonfiction. Students will learn how to translate their personal experience and research into effective pieces of creative nonfiction. We will examine the meaning of the term “creative nonfiction” by reading work across a broad spectrum of content and form, and students will learn how to read these pieces both as scholars and writers. We will also examine the ethical considerations that come into play when writing from “real” life. Students should be prepared to have their work criticized in open discussion by the class, as well as in private session with the instructor.
Writer’s Studio Tutors attended the annual Palmetto State Writing Center Association conference at the University of South Carolina, 2014.
Coker Writer’s Studio tutors conducted workshops at Mayo High School with students, including role playing a tutoring session, to support the Mayo High School Writing Center.
