HARTSVILLE, S.C. – July 10, 2013 – Johnna Shirley has accepted an appointment, which begins Aug. 12, as Coker College’s director of annual funds and planned giving.

“We are excited to welcome Johnna back to Coker,” said Tricia Meinhold, vice president of institutional advancement at Coker College. “Her warmth and sincerity, coupled with her deep understanding of the college and the people of our community, make her ideally suited to this new role.”

A longtime Hartsville resident, and formerly the director of the college’s Loyalty Fund, Shirley has most recently served as the president of the Greater Hartsville Chamber of Commerce.

“The Chamber’s role in Hartsville’s progress over the past couple of years has been remarkable,” said Mindy Taylor, Duke Energy district manager, “and Johnna’s leadership in facilitating that progress is undeniable. Whether she’s supporting popular programs like our Business After Hours or the annual Women in Business Celebration, or is helping to develop new initiatives like Leadership Hartsville or the Community Foundation for a Better Hartsville, Johnna gives every project her very best effort. We wish her great success in her new position with Coker.”

The Office of Institutional Advancement works to engage alumni and strengthen philanthropic support for the college. Through Redefining Excellence, The Campaign for Athletics and Residence Life, which was launched earlier this year, friends and alumni of Coker College are making possible the most ambitious expansion in the college’s history, building up to six new residential facilities and an urgently needed athletics complex, the Harris E. and Louise H. DeLoach Center. For more information about the campaign, visit www.redefining-excellence.com, or call Meinhold at 843-383-8267.
