Hartsville, S.C. - Coker College’s 11th Annual Social Work Conference on Friday, October 22 will focus on “Redefining Ready: Preparing the Next Generation for the Future.” The conference will run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and will feature a variety of experts presenting on topics such as family outreach, coping with loss, grief and bereavement, and finding help in rural communities. Attendees with state social work licenses can earn five social work or general contact hours.

Among the presenters will be Teresa Butkus from the Center for Children and Family Studies at the University of South Carolina, Marcia Jervey from the South Carolina Department of Social Services and Samantha Baumbach and Sara Gerrald, a 2010 Coker social work graduate, from the Billie Hardee Home.

Dr. Robert Wyatt, President of Coker College, will deliver the conference’s keynote address.
