HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Now that classes are in full swing and everyone has been accounted for, the official enrollment numbers are in and Coker College has set a new record. With more than 685 traditional day students, Coker’s day school enrollment is the largest in the College’s history.

“It is extremely gratifying to see our enrollment numbers, given the economic times we face,” said Coker President Dr. Robert Wyatt. “We believe this reaffirms that Coker’s redefined model of private education is valued by families throughout not only our southeast region and the United States, but the entire world.”

Coker has seen a steady increase in its enrollment over the last three years with 585 students in 2008, 651 in 2009 and now 689 in 2010.

Adding to this record enrollment was a record setting class of new students in 2010. 267 new faces joined the Coker community in the fall of 2010. This year’s incoming class features students from 30 states and five foreign countries, with an average high school GPA of 3.6 and an average SAT of 1000. Eight of these students are Palmetto Fellows Scholarship recipients, meaning they are ranked in the top six percent in their high school class, have a 3.5 GPA or higher and scored 1200 or higher on their SAT.

The incoming class of 2010 also has the distinction of having six students that are either the son or daughter of Coker College Alumni.

With a record setting enrollment, more Coker students than ever are posed to learn what it means to be ready for the real world.
