HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College President Dr. Robert Wyatt has been selected by the American Council on Education (ACE) to serve as a member of the Commission on Effective Leadership.

An extremely high honor, Dr. Wyatt joins an elite group of higher education presidents to advise ACE and its Center for Effective Leadership (CEL) on programs and activities to foster institutional effectiveness. In addition, Dr. Wyatt and the Commission will explore issues and share insights and personal experiences in leadership, leadership development, and institutional effectiveness with other members of ACE.

“It is a tremendous honor to be asked to serve on a commission with such distinguished Presidents from across the country,” said Dr. Wyatt.  “This speaks volumes about Coker’s reputation in the academic community and I am delighted to represent us nationally as we continue to redefine who we are at the local level.”

Dr. Wyatt joins other local presidents on the Commission; Dr. Harris Pastides of the University of South Carolina, Dr. Henry Tisdale of Claflin University and Dr. Leo Lambert of Elon University.

Appointment to the Commission on Effective Leadership comes with a three year term providing services that include reviewing policy statements, guidelines, and principles of good practice, in addition to serving as presenters, conveners and mentors for CEL programs.

Prior to his time at Coker, Dr. Wyatt was an ACE Fellows Program selection. The ACE Fellows Program is part of the CEL and is considered the nation's premier higher education leadership development program in preparing senior leaders to serve American colleges and universities.
