Every student is assigned a student success coach to guide you through your Coker experience. This specially-trained staff member will work with you to overcome any obstacles that may arise, and serves as a main point of contact when you need to talk to somebody at the college.

Once you enroll, your student success coach will send an academic plan outlining all the courses you need to graduate.  Each term, they will register you for classes. They are your one-stop-shop to get all your questions answered and can help you with any of the following:

  • Time management and study skills
  • Use of Blackboard for online classes
  • How to connect with academic support services (writing and math assistance as well as  tutoring in other subjects) and campus resources
  • Career coaching

“Nowadays, to work for a state agency, you have to have a four-year degree. If I want to extend and expand my law enforcement career, I'll need my bachelor's degree to do it….After obtaining my associate's degree, I had the opportunity to jump start my law enforcement career so my education took a back seat. Now that I have a little girl looking up to me, I want to finish up something I started a long time ago...not only for myself, but for my daughter...I have a pretty crazy and hectic schedule, but it's totally worth it!”

Lynsee Carroll, '18 - criminology bridge program student

"I really like the way Coker has the classes set up, with the [terms lasting just] eight weeks...They make it easy for you, especially if you have a full-time job, if you have children, if you have family obligations. They understand that.”

Mary Burnell, '18 - business management bridge program student
