Previous Section | Next Section | Owner: Provost and Dean of the Faculty Compliance Certification Section 2.7.4Contractual Agreements for InstructionThe institution provides instruction for all course work required for at least one degree program at each level at which it awards degrees. If the institution makes arrangements for some instruction to be provided by other accredited institutions or entities through contracts or consortia, or uses some other alternative approach to meeting this requirement, the alternative approach must be approved by the Commission on Colleges. In all cases, the institution demonstrates that it controls all aspects of its educational program. Coker College is in compliance. The College offers 30 complete degree programs at the bachelor's degree
level (four year degrees) and one (Medical Technology) that must be completed
elsewhere. Program information can be found on the Academic
Programs page. They are also described along with course offerings
in the Academic Catalog [510] Coker College has three programs that are offered through consortia relationships
or contractual agreements. These are the Servicemembers' Opportunity Colleges
(SOC) (the manual is found in [1057] The first two of these are merely arrangements to allow for the transfer
of credit. They do not require a student to take classes through a consortium
arrangement and provide for the earning of degrees that would be equivalent
to those taken for the same degree completely at Coker College. Students
take comparable courses provided by SOC-member colleges (for those students
in the army who are transferred to other locations) (see the SOCAD-4 Handbook
[1057] Only the Medical Technology program provides for courses taken at McLeod
Medical Center that are not comparable to classes offered on the Coker
College campus. The affiliation agreement is found in [1169] Although the College does not have direct control over the education
received in the last 30 hours of the Medical Technology degree, a review
process ensures that the College is aware of and approves any changes
that are made. The most recent review consisted of a site visit and interviews
with instructors. The report concludes that "It is clear that this
program is a credit to Coker College and that the students receive an
excellent education in Medical Technology" [1191] Reference Documents Cited
