Dr. James Beaumier
Director of the Hartsville Civic Chorale and Coker Singers is an Associate Professor of Music in his tenth year at Coker College. He teaches voice, music education and choirs. He received his undergraduate degrees from the University of Washington and his Masters in Music from Western Washington University. He began teaching in Washington State, directing high school choirs and bands and also worked in churches. Dr. Beaumier completed his doctorate at the University of Southern California in 1989. He has pursued post-graduate studies with Richard Miller at Oberlin Conservatory and Thomas Cleveland at the Vanderbilt University Voice Center. Dr. Beaumier has just been elected state President of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and is an officer of the state American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) for whose fall convocation the Coker Singers were the featured college choir. Dr. Beaumier is Director of Music at Wesley United Methodist Church in Hartsville. He is an adjudicator, choral and vocal judge, director of festival choruses and a consultant in music to public schools.
