Theater
The 466-seat
Watson Theater and the 100-seat Black Box Theater in the
Elizabeth Boatwright Coker Performing Arts Center offer
students a variety of theatrical experiences in performance
and technical areas.
The Watson Theater's proscenium
stage allows for the production of large-scale student
theatrical pieces. The Black Box Theater houses more intimate
productions, experimental work and student-directed work,
for which a variety of seating configurations can be constructed.
In addition to student work,
the College brings in performances by individual actors
and professional theater companies.
Coker
College upholds and defends the intellectual and artistic
freedom of its faculty and students as they study and
create art and live performances that explore the full
spectrum of human experience. The College considers such
pursuits central to the spirit of inquiry and thoughtful
discussion at the heart of a liberal arts education.
