Music - Piano, Voice, Musical Theater

The Elizabeth Boatwright Coker Performing Arts Center provides exceptional opportunities for majoring in Music - a Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis in Voice, Piano and Musical Theater.

The music recording and rehearsal studio is acoustically designed and will allow for professional recordings . The orchestra shell in the Watson Theater gives students the chance to perform in a professional environment.

The addition of high-level sound recording equipment gives Coker students the opportunity to learn the latest advances in music technology. Furthermore, the Center enables dance, music and theater to collaborate in musical theater productions.

The proscenium theater serves as a performance venue for Coker students, including the Coker Singers, and hosts off-campus groups like the Hartsville Civic Chorale and the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. The Coker College Piano Concert Series annually features established and rising professional artists.

The Center adjoins the classrooms, auditorium, practice rooms and offices of the Margaret Coker Lawton Music Building, built in 1952 and recently renovated.

Coker College upholds and defends the intellectual and artistic freedom of its faculty and students as they study and create art and live performances that explore the full spectrum of human experience. The College considers such pursuits central to the spirit of inquiry and thoughtful discussion at the heart of a liberal arts education.
