Staff Meeting Minutes April 15, 2010

Approval of minutes Forgot to send out so will approve March & April at May meeting.
Dr. Wyatt Introduced Caroline Hart—a VP for Inst. Dev. Candidate.
Items of interest from Executive Staff: 1. They are working on allowing staff to take ½ day off on Fridays from May - July. 2. All supervisors will do performance evaluations with raises given on average of 2.5%. There will be 5% raises for the lowest paid employees to raise them to a minimum salary. The retirement benefit has been restored to 6%. 3. Increase attention will be given to athletics to restore competitiveness. 4. Tasha Stryker is the new coordinator for the online classes 5. Marketing & Communications will hire a new person. 6. Career Services will hire a full time person. 7. Women’s golf team will hire new intramural person 8. Student Center is in stage one of renovation
Lifesaver Awards Darlene Small presented lifesavers to Lisa Potoka and Ginger Freeman (Alvin Cheng and Justin Johnson were not present) for going above an beyond to help make the Inauguration go smoothly. Dee Pierce, on behalf of Lyn Blackmon, presented Lifesavers to Mitch Brantley for volunteering to help clean up the Drawing Room on a Friday afternoon, before the class of 1960 had their 50th Reunion dinner. He helped take down tables and chairs and general clean up. His help is very much appreciated.
Staff Excellence Award There were 5 nominees this month. One person was nominated three times by three different people. The winner of this month’s staff excellence award is Kyle Saverance. Keep nominations coming, we need your recommendations.
EAP Presentation Charlene Wingate of Sun Gate presented the employee assistance program for stress that effects your performance at work and home. They have people answering their phone 24/7. With this service you can get 3 free clinical sessions per year (their year is March 1-February 28. After that you would turn in insurance information. You also get 5 free life sessions per year. A supervisor could recommend you or you can call them. 800-968-8143.
Relay for Life event is Friday and Saturday, April 23-24 at Byerly Park. Please stop by the Coker College tent.
