Staff Meeting Minutes October 21, 2010
Welcome – Lynn Rawls
Approval of Minutes Motion was made to accept as e-mailed by Mary Lathan Steele and was seconded by Cindy Griggs.
Staff Development Lynn has asked Melinda Norris if she would be willing to facilitate a monthly workshop for staff to be able to ask questions on Microsoft Office products.
New Staff Members Tammie Huskey – College Accountant (Coker alum) Walter Upchurch – Director of Campus Safety (not in attendance)
Department “Pat on the Back” This month’s featured department is the Registrar’s Office. With only a staff of three, this office has the responsibility of maintaining the academic records of the College. They have fine-tuned the degree audits to fit each and every major, and are constantly working on other ways to make the College more efficient.
Lifesaver Awards Todd Caughlin presented lifesaver award to Vic Finora for his tireless effort in assisting coaches, teams, and helping in the gym with game management. Lynn Rawls recognized Christie Happ for being willing to take the minutes last week at the spur of the moment.
Staff Excellence Award Mary Fernandes (nominated by Gordon Brown), was presented the award for being outstanding at her job. Gordon stated that “Whenever I have an order, I am confident that it will 1) be handled extremely efficiently and quickly, 2) be done with zero errors, and 3) all issues will be taken care of properly.” Congratulations to Mary on this recognition!
Announcements Campus Life had a few remaining free tickets to the Blue Grass Festival for the weekend and all were quickly given away.
Jason Umfress reminded the staff that the College Nurse was offering the flu vaccine Thursday and Friday from 1:00 – 3:00 pm in the Student Center.
Wes Daniels announced he has tickets for sell for the Taste of Coker for Thursday, Oct. 28. He also reminded the staff of the Cocktail Reception for Frank Bush this evening.
