The Coker College Parents Advisory Council (PAC) is one of the most valuable volunteer groups presently serving the campus community. The PAC is not a policymaking body, but it serves as a vital communication line between all Coker parents and the College. Comprised of parents representing each of the four classes at Coker, the PAC meets twice annually during the fall and spring of each academic year. Meetings are always held on a Saturday morning and include presentations and discussions with Coker’s administration as well as social opportunities for PAC members.

The fall 2012 meeting is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 6, during Coker’s Homecoming and Family Weekend.

Responsibilities and Opportunities for Service

• Meeting Attendance: We ask that at least one parent per family attend each of the two annual meetings.
• Freshmen Orientation: Each PAC member will be given a list of incoming freshmen to contact over the summer to welcome them to the Coker family and answer any questions they may have.
• Ambassadors: PAC members may host a send-off event (barbecue, ice cream social, etc.) for incoming freshmen in their area and invite current or incoming students and alumni to attend.
• Career Preparation: PAC members may be asked to participate in mock job interviews and are encouraged to identify internships and full- or part-time employment opportunities in their area for Coker students.
