Hartsville, S.C. —Coker College Dance presents “Looking Back, Moving Forward,” its annual spring concert, Thursday, February 11 through Saturday, February 13 at 8 p.m. in the Watson Theater of the Elizabeth Boatwright Coker Performing Arts Center. Admission at the door is $5 or free with a Coker College ID. The concert will showcase guest choreography by dancers Eric Blair of New York and Julie Mulvihill, a faculty member at Georgia College and State University. Coker College dance professors Angela Gallo and Erin Leigh will debut new works, and students Kaitlin Owens, Tabitha Quick and Ashleigh Seccareccio will present their senior thesis choreography projects. The works being performed in “Looking Back, Moving Forward” explore a variety of themes, including family issues, stereotypes, and the struggle of helping others. Music in the concert ranges from Billie Holliday to L ‘Orchestra Cinematique and Enya. In conjunction with the concert, Coker Dance is holding a silent auction on Friday and Saturday night featuring items donated by Hartsville businesses, including Minnie’s Giftique, The Midnight Rooster and Carolina Printing and Trophy. Proceeds from the auction will support a Southern Arts Federation Grant to bring the Doug Varone and Dancers to Coker College in November 2010. This highly-acclaimed ensemble is the resident company at the 92nd Street Y Harkness Dance Center in New York.
