Art comes to life when the Coker College Performing Arts Series presents
the magical puppetry of The Cashore Marionettes on Sunday, April 10 at
3 p.m. in the Watson Theater of the Elizabeth Boatwright Coker Performing
Arts Center. Complimentary cookies and lemonade will be served before
the performance.
The program is a series of touching character portrayals and scenes from
everyday life set to a musical score that includes Vivaldi, Beethoven
and Copeland. Original vignettes celebrate life and explore a range of
emotions with engaging and amazingly lifelike characters. The show is
highly recommended for adults and suitable for children eight and older.
Master puppeteer Joseph Cashore has been designing and performing his
marionettes for over 30 years around the world. He has earned numerous
awards for his work, including the Pew Charitable Trusts’ Fellowship for
Performance Art and a Citation of Excellence from the Union Internationale
de la Marionette, that organizations highest honor for engaging, enchanting
and enthralling audiences. Cashore is also a recipient of a Henson Foundation
Grant to help promote puppetry to adult audiences.
Admission to The Cashore Marionettes is $15 adults, $7 children under
18 and non-Coker students, and free with Coker ID. Tickets are available
in advance at Burry Bookstore in downtown Hartsville, the Coker College
