Hartsville, SC — Coker’s Social Work Student Association (SWSA) recently hosted its second annual Thanksgiving dinner for Darlington County foster parents and children. College faculty, staff, students and local alumni as well as members of the community donated food, time and items for the Thanksgiving dinner held in the college’s Drawing Room.

SWSA sponsors the dinner to bring foster families in the county together for a holiday meal while giving siblings in foster care who are living in separate homes the chance to visit with each other. Over 60 people participated in the dinner this year.

The annual Thanksgiving dinner is one of several community service projects SWSA conducts throughout the year. The student organization sponsors a summer back to school party for foster children, conducts a canned food drive in the fall, participates in the Christmas Angel Tree program for needy families, and participates in an Adopt-a-Highway project.
