U.S.News Ranks Coker a "Best College" for the 10th Time

Hartsville, SC ­ U.S. News & World Report ranks Coker College in the Top Tier of the Best Comprehensive Colleges in the South for 2006. The magazine places Coker 12th out of 106 comprehensive colleges in the South. This is the 10th consecutive year the magazine has named Coker a “Best College.”

U.S. News & World Report classifies a comprehensive college as an institution that focuses on undergraduate education while offering a wide range of degree programs in the liberal arts as well as professional fields, such as business and education. There are 324 comprehensive colleges in the United States.

For its annual college guide, U.S. News & World Report rates colleges using a number of criteria, including peer assessment, graduation rate, student-faculty ratio, percentage of full-time faculty, and alumni giving.
