For more information, contact James Jolly, director of marketing and communications, 843.383.8018 Hartsville, SC — The Hartsville-Coker ConcertAssociation presents The Palmetto Mastersingers featuring bass-baritone Jacob Will on Thursday, January 31 at 7:30 p.m. in Watson Theater at Coker College. The program includes a variety of songs styles including classic, religious, patriotic, popular and beach music. For over 25 years, The Palmetto Mastersingers have been dedicated to preserving and promoting male choral music. Designated the state’s musical ambassadors by the South Carolina House of Representatives, the Mastersingers have performed in the White House, the National Cathedral, Carnegie Hall, Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, and in Russia and China. The Palmetto Mastersingers are directed by Dr. Walter Cuttino of the University of South Carolina.
Will, a Hartsville native, has appeared with symphony orchestras throughout the United States and Europe. He made his New York Philharmonic debut as soloist in the nationally televised American premiere of the “Messa per Rossini.” Will has been featured with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, and the San Francisco Symphony. His other credits include performances with the International Bach Festival of Schaffhausen and with the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra. Will has also recorded Cherubini’s “Messe solennelle” and Zemlinsky’s “Kleider Machen Leute.” Admission to The Palmetto Mastersingers featuring Jacob Will is $20 for adults, $7 for children under 18 and students, and free with Coker College ID.
