Hartsville, S.C. – Coker College’s Dr. Joanne Kampiziones, assistantprofessor of music, will give a piano recital on Sunday, March 16 at 3:00 p.m. in the Watson Theater of the Elizabeth Boatwright Coker Performing Arts Center. She will present Bach-Busoni’s “Chaconne,” Liszt’s “Ballade & Soirées de Vienne” and Chopin’s “Mazurkas & Ballade.” Admission is free and the public is invited to attend. Kampiziones, who joined the Coker faculty in fall 2007, serves on the board of directors for the South Carolina State Music Teachers Association as the Composition Competition director. She holds doctorate in music (keyboard performance and pedagogy) from the University of Miami. Kampiziones received a B.A. in International Studies, a B.M. in Music Education and M.M. in Piano Pedagogy from the University of South Carolina. During her residency at the University of Miami, Kampiziones served on the faculty of the university’s Piano Preparatory Program and taught applied and group piano as well as music technology courses. Kampiziones has presented recitals, master classes, workshops, and research throughout the country. In 2007, she presented her research and performance teaching strategies on 20th century piano literature at San Francisco State University, Westminster Choir College, and the University of Miami for regional conferences of the College Music Society. She has also served on the jury of numerous piano competitions.
