Hartsville, S.C. — Dr. George Kuh, director of the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), will deliver the keynote address at Coker College’s Opening Convocation on Thursday, August 17 at 7 p.m. in the Elizabeth Boatwright Coker Performing Arts Center. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend. Kuh is the Chancellor’s Professor of Higher Education at Indiana University Bloomington. He directs the Center for Postsecondary Research that promotes student success and institutional effectiveness through the NSSE and the College Student Experiences Questionnaire Research Program, among other projects. Since 2000, over 970 different colleges and universities have participated in NSSE, including Coker College. An award-winning educator, Kuh has published more than 250 items, including 17 books and monographs, 65 chapters and 150 articles. He has made hundreds presentations related to college student development, assessment strategies and campus cultures. In addition, Kuh serves as a consultant for higher education in the United States and abroad. Kuh has been recognized for his contribution to higher education by the American College Personnel Association (ACPA), the Association for Institutional Research, the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE), the National Center on Public Policy in Higher Education, the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning, the Council of Independent Colleges, and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators. -30- August 3, 2006 |
