Hartsville, S.C. – Coker College Dance Theater presents its annual fall concert at 8 p.m. from Thursday, October 11 through Saturday, October 13 in the Watson Theater of the Elizabeth Boatwright Coker Performing Arts Center. Admission at the door is $5 or free with a Coker College ID. A showcase of student choreography, the concert will feature 10 new works of performed by 22 dancers. Dance styles include modern, jazz and tap, and the music includes songs by Alanis Morissette, Queen, Jewel and Missy Elliot. Among the pieces is the senior thesis of Madison Stump of Bradenton, Fl. Her dance, “A Day at the Beach,” is performance montage capturing the memories of her life growing up by the ocean. Other choreographers whose work debuts in the concert are: seniors Janine Spevack of Sumter, Rose Forman of Irmo, and Lenora Hickman of Colonial Heights, Va.; sophomores Danyelle Givens of Milwaukee, Wi., Corinne Sutton of Simpsonville, Jessica Welch of Cuyahoga Falls, Oh., Kaitlin Owens of Surfside Beach, and Jasmine Stevenson of Jonesboro, Ga; and freshman Herbert Washington of Rock Hill. -30- October 5, 2007 News Release by Tanisha Morrison '09 |
