Among the dances to be performed in the Fall Concert is the senior thesis by Karen MacIntyre, entitled “Always Remember 9/11.” This work is a combination of several dance techniques, including lyrical, modern, and ballet.

Four other original student dances are featured in the concert. They include, “Folklore” a modern/jazz piece by sophomore Jackie O’Toole; “Art in Motion” a modern piece by junior Deborah Maine; “A Moment’s Value” a modern/ballet piece by junior Sarah Henderson; and “A Soldier’s Story” a modern piece by junior Joanna Schueler. The choreographers are also responsible for their own costume design.

The 21 performers in the Fall Dance Concert are dance majors and non-majors. There is also a special appearance by Richard Puffer, assistant professor of communication. Technical theater students have been working throughout the semester to design the lighting for each performance.

The Saturday, Oct. 30 performance is part of High School Dance Day at Coker College. Coker College is one of only three schools in South Carolina that offers a dance major. Dance at Coker is taught by professors Wanda Ebright and Angela Gallo.
