Hartsville, S.C. — Two books by Coker College education professor Edward Ebert have recently been published. Teaching Constructivist Science: Nurturing the Natural Investigator (Corwin Press, 2007) is a science teaching methods textbook for grades K-8. It includes practical applications, strategies, activities, and assessment tools. Ebert co-authored the book with his wife, Christine, and University of Tennessee science education professor Michael Bentley. Christine Ebert is associate provost and dean of the graduate school at the University of South Carolina. School: an Introduction to Education (Wadsworth/Thomson Learning, 2007) was written by Ebert and former Coker College education professor Richard Culyer. This guide to teacher education programs discusses what it means to be a competent educator. It features a wide range of information and includes contribution from Coker College professors David Blackmon, Dick Puffer and Jim Boden, and Coker teacher education graduates Megan Brenna-Holms, Joe Waddilove and Joe Albin. Ebert joined the Coker College faculty in 1991. He teaches courses in educational psychology, elementary science methods, child development, classroom management, assessment, and creative problem solving.
