Johnson oversees the generation and delivery of electricity to customers in the Carolinas and Florida. He joined Progress Energy (formerly CP&L) in 1992 and has served the company in a number of positions, including general counsel. Johnson was previously a partner with the law firm Hunton & Williams in Raleigh, N.C, specializing in utilities. He earned a degree in history from Duke University and a law degree with high honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Johnson was a law clerk to the Honorable J. Dickson Phillips, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Hall is the great-granddaughter of the college’s founder, Major James Lide Coker. She was one of the first women in television as a daily talk show host, reporter and anchor in New York during the 1960s. Hall attended Sarah Lawrence College and has authored two children’s books - The Wish Bottle and Fancy and the Cement Patch - and a novel, Riding High. She was also editor-in-chief of Dutchess Magazine, a quarterly covering lifestyle and dining in Dutchess County, NY. A former Trustee of Coker College, Hall was co-chair of the college’s recent Gateway to the New Century Campaign that raised over $23 million to fund improvements to school’s living and learning environment. She is also a board member of Spoleto USA and several other organizations. Hall and her husband, Mortimer, reside in Millbrook, NY and Charleston, S.C. During Coker’s 98th Commencement, the college faculty will present the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award for excellence of character and service to humanity to retired architect W. Reaves McCall of Hartsville. McCall has a long record of service to the community. The Class of 2006 will also announce the Master Professor and the Staff Person of the Year awards. -30-
