Hartsville, SC — Coker
College business professor Dr. Glenn Chappell recently joined a select
group of educators from around the world at Experiential Classroom
VIII, an intensive, three-day clinic at Syracuse University devoted
to innovative ways of teaching entrepreneurship.
Chappell
participated in the conference in order to reestablish Coker College’s
Center for Entrepreneurship and Family Business.
“The
center will provide opportunities for the
development of family-owned businesses and entrepreneurial opportunities through
research, networking and outreach activities,” he said.
The Experiential
Classroom began in the fall of 2000 as part of the Lifelong Learning
for Entrepreneurship Education Professionals Partnership (LLEEP). LLEEP
was established two years earlier to explore the future of entrepreneurship
education and address the growing need for high quality teachers within
the field. LLEEP sponsors include Stanford University, Colorado State
University and the Foundation for Enterprise Development.
Chappell,
who was awarded a scholarship from The Coleman Foundation to attend Experiential
Classroom VIII, joined the Coker College faculty in 2005. A visiting
associate professor of business administration, Chappell holds a Ph.
D. from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and a bachelor’s
degree from North Carolina State University.
In 2008, Coker College celebrates
100 years of professors who, like Chappell, are dedicated to academic
excellence and serving the community at-large.
