Blackmon is

Coker's New

Alumni Director

Hartsville, SC —Lyn Terry Blackmon has been named director of alumni relations for Coker College.

“Lyn’s background is well-suited for what we want to accomplish in Coker’s alumni relations office,” said Frank Bush, executive vice president for institutional advancement. “Her experience in client relations, fund-raising and special events will truly benefit Coker’s alumni programs.”

Blackmon has over nine years’ experience in client and donor relations, fundraising, and financial services. The lifelong Hartsville resident comes to Coker from the Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) Foundation, where she had been the coordinator of annual giving since 2001. In that position, Blackmon’s duties included working with GSSM alumni in programs and events, communications, and fundraising. Blackmon was the development associate for the GSSM Foundation in 1998 and 1999.

“I feel as though I have been part of the Coker College community since childhood, growing up in Hartsville,” said Blackmon, who is taking over from Trish Lunn, the college’s alumni director from 1993 until last fall. “I look forward to making my association with Coker official and working with Frank Bush and the rest of the team to grow the alumni relationships that have been so carefully developed.”

Blackmon’s mother, Sara Jane Long Fox, is a 1960 Coker alumna, and her late husband, Dr. James W. Blackmon, was a 1975 Coker graduate. Blackmon holds degrees in English and business from Francis Marion College, and she previously worked for Wachovia Bank, BB&T Investment Services, and American Express Financial Advisors.

“I am looking forward to working with Lyn,” said Belinda Copeland, Darlington County Treasurer and a 1963 Coker graduate. “I think she will be an asset to the Coker Alumni Association.”
Coker College has over 5000 alumni throughout the world.
