Hartsville, SC – The Coker College Alumni Association honored Hartsville business woman Trish Lunn with its Distinguished Achievement Award and retired social worker Ann Murchison of Union with its Distinguished Service Award at the college’s Alumni Day on April 17.

Lunn, who earned a bachelor’s of science in business education from Coker in 1987, was selected for her efforts and accomplishments in the advancement of education and in the business community.

Currently a regional manager for HelmsBriscoe, an international firm specializing in conference and meeting planning, Lunn spent 10 years as director of alumni affairs for Coker College and was active in the South Carolina Association of Alumni Directors and the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.

Lunn was previously the program and activities director for St. Luke Methodist Church in Hartsville. She is a longtime member of the Greater Hartsville Chamber of Commerce and she currently serves on its board of directors.

Earlier this year, Lunn received the Greater Hartsville Chamber of Commerce Chairman’s Award. She is also a past recipient of the Chamber of Commerce’s Woman of Achievement award and the International Association of Administrative Professionals (Hartsville Chapter) Executive of the Year award. Lunn has also been recognized in “Who’s Who of Professional Business Women” and “Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities”.

Distinguish Service Award winner Ann Holloway Murchison was honored by Coker College’s Alumni Association for her dedicated commitment to improving the welfare of children across South Carolina and service to her alma mater and community.

Murchison, a 1945 Coker graduate, earned a Master’s of Social Work from Tulane University in 1947. Her career includes serving as a caseworker for The Children’s Center in Greenville and as a counselor at The Connie Maxwell Children’s Home in Greenwood.

Murchison is a past president of the Board of Trustees of The Connie Maxwell Children’s Home, a past president of the Union County Mental Health Association, a board member of the Spartanburg Area Mental Health Department, co-founder of Meals-on-Wheels in Union, a former district representative for the Spartanburg Girl Scouts of America, and a former board chairman of the Union United Way Campaign. She is a past recipient of the Woman of the Year award in Anderson, SC.

In service to Coker College, Murchison has been a member of the Board of Visitors, a class representative for the Alumni Association, and a hostess for college functions. She is active in her community and her church, including teaching Sunday school and serving as a member of the Union Cotillion Club.
