Hartsville: A Hamlet of History, Heritage and Hospitality

Hartsville is a mid-sized progressive community incorporated in 1891. In 1996, Hartsville was selected an All-America City by the AllState Foundation and the National Civic League. All-America City status is awarded to 10 cities a year that demonstrate strong and successful civic programs that enhance the quality of life in their communities.

Hartsville is located in Darlington County in northeast South Carolina (the Pee Dee), near the intersection I-95 and I-20. We are 90 miles from Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand; 75 miles from the state capital, Columbia; and 80 miles from Charlotte, NC.

A friendly atmosphere, traditional neighborhoods, convenient shopping and dining, and a choice of hotels and B&Bs make Hartsville a great place to live or visit. Hartsville has:

  • Golf
  • Walk & Bike Paths
  • Prestwood Lake
  • An Active Recreation Department
  • Lake Robinson
  • Black Creek Arts Council
  • Centennial Park
  • The Center Theater
  • Lawton Park
