Institutional Scholarships

Institutional Financial Aid From generous gifts to Coker, an endowment has been established which generates income for scholarly achievement, leadership and need-based assistance. In addition, Coker budgets substantial money each year to assist students in making a Coker education a reality.

Honor's Scholarships These awards are given to South Carolina Palmetto Fellows Recipients and to out-of-state students who meet the Palmetto Fellows eligibility requirements. Scholarships range up to $10,000 per year.

President’s Scholarships These awards are based upon SAT or ACT score and high school grade point average. Scholarships range up to $8,500 per year.

Dean’s Scholarships These awards are based upon SAT or ACT score and high school grade point average. Scholarships range up to $7,000 per year.

Departmental Scholarships The Departments of Art, Dance, Music, Theater, Biology, and Chemistry award scholarships to talented students. The Department of Language and Literature also sponsors a creative writing scholarship. Scholarships range from $500 to $2,000 per year. Art, Dance, Music and Theater scholarships require an audition or portfolio. Some departments require an interview.

Alumni Heritage Sons or daughters of Coker Alumni receive a scholarship of $500 per year.

Intercollegiate Athletics Athletic scholarships are available in all 12 sponsored sports. These include baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, and tennis for men and basketball, cross country, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball for women.

Scholarships for Foreign Study Income from the endowment provides summer study outside the United States for rising juniors and seniors.

Valedictorian Scholarships Scholarships of $500 per year are awarded to students ranked number one in their class at the end of the junior year or first semester of their senior year.

Transfer Scholarships Scholarships for students who transfer from other colleges are available based upon the previous grade point average attained. Scholarships range from $3,000 to $5,000 per year.

Coker College Grants Awarded to recognize academic merit and contributions to school and community. These grants are also used to help meet the demonstrated needs of students. Because money is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, early application each year is essential.
