![]() Destination: UnknownThirty Coker College students will assemble in the Charles W. and Joan S. Coker Library parking lot and board a bus at 9:30 in the morning on Sunday, September 26. Passersby may overhear the musings of students wondering where they are going. Why? Because their destination is unknown. Destination: Unknown (D:U) is an exciting new programming initiative from Campus Life designed to spice up weekends at Coker. Each month, students will venture to various destinations throughout the region. They just won’t know where they’re going until they get there. "Destination: Unknown was a brainchild born out of feedback we received from students last year," said Jason Umfress, Dean of Students at Coker College. "We took popular programs like the outdoor adventure trips that had been successful in the past and put a new spin on them." The purpose of the D:U program is twofold, Umfress said. First, it will assist in creating an exciting, vibrant campus environment by providing students with programming options during the weekends. Second, it will give students the opportunity to have experiences they might not otherwise encounter. Here’s a hint for this month’s D:U location: Get on the bus, no need to groan. There are still open slots, so if you’re interested in finding out the destination, sign up for the trip by Friday, September 24 in the Campus Life Office, which is located on the second floor of the Student Center. Just bring $10 to hold your spot. The $10 will be returned on the day of the trip, and you won’t have to pay for anything but your lunch. "I think that not telling where we are going is part of the adventure," said Umfress. "How cool is it to get on a bus and not know where you’re going until you get there?"
