Giving to Coker

Scholarship donors and recipients got together recently at a reception in Drengaelen House.

The leadership support of donors has enabled Coker College's enduring success as a private liberal arts college.

The spirit of generosity began with college founder Major James Lide Coker, who laid the solid foundation upon which the College still rests. The Major donated the land which is now Coker's campus and he provided the funds to construct the first two residence halls and the building now known as Davidson Hall. He also established the College's original endowment, which he later enlarged through a bequest upon his death.

The support of the Major's descendents, members of the general public, and college trustees, alumni, faculty and staff plays a vital role in protecting and promoting the welfare of Coker College.

Coker College's Development Office is responsible for building, expanding and maintaining relationships that benefit the College; increasing assets of the institution to ensure its future fiscal strength; and securing resources for the Annual Scholarship Fund and other yearly budgeted programs.

Coker College is a 501(c)(3) non-profit institution. Your gift is tax deductible.
