“I am deeply honored to serve on Coker’s board,” said Morano. “As a proud alumna, I see this as an opportunity not only to acknowledge and carry forward the fine traditions of excellence that have long been hallmarks of Coker but also to be a part of the important progress that Dr. Wyatt and his team are working so hard to achieve.” After receiving her degree from Coker in 1969, Morano taught in Taylors, S.C., before moving to New Jersey in 1976 where she worked for LCP Chemical Company and served as a regional manager for Atari Computers. In 1984, her personal interest in the health food industry led her to create Suzanne's Specialties, a producer and packer of naturally-sweetened grain-based products. Suzanne's Specialties was named to the 2010 Top 50 Fastest-Growing Women-Led Companies list, published in the Wall Street Journal. She was also named in the 2005 Whole Foods Who's Who of Manufacturers and has been honored by the Women's Business Enterprise and by the Association of Women in Natural Foods. Morano is a member of the Organic Trade Association and the National Health Foods Association. Recently, Morano received Coker’s Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award, which is given annually in recognition of outstanding professional achievements. She resides in Somerset, N.J. The Coker College Board of Trustees maintains broad responsibility for the mission, long-range direction, policies and financial condition of the institution.
