The 2013 Military Friendly Schools list includes the top 15 percent of institutions in the country judged to be doing the most to embrace America’s military service members. “While Coker has provided excellent educational opportunities at night for motivated adults in the Pee Dee since 1983, we are particularly pleased about being recognized on the Military Friendly Schools list," said Coker College President Robert Wyatt. “Whether we’re serving traditional-age residential students in the day program or military personnel, veterans and other adult students in evening classes in Hartsville, Marion or Lake City, we take enormous pride in doing whatever it takes to make the transition into college as smooth as possible and to providing ongoing counsel and academic support services so that every student can achieve the success to which they aspire,” Wyatt added. Victory Media, a company devoted to helping military personnel transition into civilian life, annually compiles its list to provide military students a reliable source of information to assist in choosing a college or university that best suits their needs. “As interest in education grows, we’re thrilled to provide the military community with transparent, world-class resources to assist in their search for schools,” said Sean Collins, director for G.I. Jobs and vice president at Victory Media. “Inclusion on the 2013 list of Military Friendly Schools shows Coker College’s commitment to providing a supportive environment for military students.” Data for this year’s list was drawn from a survey of more than 12,000 Veterans Affairs-approved schools nationwide, the results of which were independently tested by Ernst and Young based upon the weightings and methodology established by Victory Media.
