Previously he was director of campus safety at Cornell College. With nearly 20 years’ experience in law enforcement and campus and event security, Williamson has had specialized training in best practices for student health and safety, CPR and the use of automated external defibrillators, college police investigations, campus threat assessment, crisis communications and emergency response procedures. A longtime advocate for animal welfare, Williamson has served numerous charitable organizations including Parks4Paws and the Tri-County Animal Protection League in Dixon, Ill., and the Humane Society in numerous communities. Williamson graduated from Western Illinois University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree in law enforcement administration and in recreation, parks and tourism administration.
