| Coker Chamber Singers to Present Fall Concert and Tour |
|
“Our fall concert is always fun to learn and to sing because of its eclectic nature,” Director of Choral Studies William Carswell said. “The program will include music from the Renaissance period to the 21st century – something for everyone!” The Coker Chamber Singers will take the concert on the road to high schools in the lowcountry region of the state Nov. 21-22, with performances scheduled for Loris High School, Aynor High School, Conway High School, Summerville High School, Fort Dorchester High School and Ashley Ridge High School. The Coker Chamber Singers is one of three choral ensembles at Coker College. It was formed in 2004 to offer singers an opportunity to perform more challenging repertoire and to travel more often for performance and recruiting purposes. This auditioned ensemble of 14 to 16 singers studies and performs choral chamber works from all musical periods. The choir most recently toured and sang in Washington, D.C. The concert at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church is free and open to the public and will be followed by a reception and light refreshments. For more information about the Coker Chamber Singers, contact Carswell at 843-383-8063.
