“The Taste of Coker is not only a terrific way to help Coker connect with our neighbors and build the Cobras’ fan base, it has become an NCAA model of a successful community engagement project,” said Athletic Director Lynn Griffin. Last year, some 40 local chefs served more than 500 people, and the College’s Taste of Coker video was featured on the NCAA Division II Community Engagement website. In addition to sampling dozens of culinary specialties, participants will listen to live music, meet Coker’s athletes and coaches, and see athletic demonstrations from Coker’s 14 NCAA Division II athletic programs. Taste of Coker 2011 is made possible by the generous support of numerous community sponsors, including major supporters Ed Saleeby, Jr., Sonoco, Ace Henderson Hardware, Aramark, Pepsi, First Citizens, Hilex-Poly, Agape Hospice, Efird Chrysler Jeep Dodge, Markel Insurance, SPC Credit Union and Smith, Watts and Associates. Tiickets purchased in advance are $20, $35 per couple or $50 for families. Tickets purchased at the door are $5 more than tickets purchased in advance.
