Steadman joins the Coker staff from Allegheny College in Pennsylvania where, since 2002, she has served in a variety of roles including Director of Public Affairs and Secretary of the College. There, she gained extensive experience in elevating the national profile of Allegheny through marketing, media relations, community relations and publications. “Barbara brings a strong background in higher education media relations to Coker College,” said President Dr. Robert Wyatt. “Her experience and expertise will be a tremendous addition to our Office of Marketing and Communications.” Steadman will be charged with expanding Coker’s media coverage through local, regional and national media outlets, while also fostering relationships with the College and local communities. She will report to the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications, Kyle Saverance, and work closely with faculty, staff and administrators to enhance the overall communication efforts of Coker College. “I am delighted to join the Coker family,” said Steadman. “The College’s stories – accounts of how students, faculty and staff are re-defining ready – not only strengthen Coker, they also stand as examples to inspire others. Doing what I can to ensure these stories reach wider audiences will be an honor.” Prior to her time at Allegheny, Steadman served at the Marketing Director for EAPC Inc., an architectural and engineering firm in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She also served as the editor of the Red River Valley Women Today magazine, was the communications manager for the Energy & Environmental Research Center at the University of North Dakota and was the marketing director for the Grand Forks Region Economic Development Corporation. She graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts in communication from the University of North Dakota. ------------------------------------------------- Coker College readies undergraduates for personal and professional success through a distinctive four-year program that emphasizes a practical application of the liberal arts as well as hands-on and discussion-based learning within and beyond the classroom.
