HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College and the City of Hartsville presented a day full of activities for the Coker and Hartsville communities on Saturday, November 13.

The first event of the day was a performance by the award-winning choreographer and director Doug Varone and Dancers in the Watson Theater. Varone and Dancers brought a performance full of charismatic, lyrical and lush movements to the Watson stage.  The program featured pieces from Varone’s newest work, Chapters from a Broken Novel, set to music by award-winning composer David Van Tieghem (Broadway’s Doubt, Frozen, etc.).

Following the performance by Varone and Dancers was the Coker College Pep Rally on the 100 block of Downtown Hartsville. The free event sponsored by the Hartsville Downtown Development Association, the Hartsville Family YMCA and Coker College, featured performances by the Coker Cheer and Dance Teams, introduction of all 13 NCAA Division II teams and coaches, a karaoke competition between teams and lots, lots more as the Hartsville community got to meet and greet the Cobra Athletes.

And finally there was the Coker Fall Carnival sponsored by the Coker College Union. Coker students participated in a variety of traditional “carnival” activities, such as the balloon pop and ring toss, as well as some not so common ones, like the toilet paper toss. Students competed for prizes that included gift cards, a GPS and an iPod.
