Adjunct Spanish professor Dr. Jose’ Lobo Fontalvo will present a paper with former adjunct Spanish professor, Dr. Alida Vizcaino entitled “The Brain and Language Learning: A Voyage to a New World.” This presentation will explore how learners can best acquire languages from both cultural and neurolinguistic perspectives. Dr. Alida Vizaino completed a B.A. in modern languages and education at the Atlantic University in Colombia. Additionally, she did a Master of Arts in comparative literature and an ED.D. in literacy in second language at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Jose’ Lobo did a B.A. in modern languages in modern language and education at the Atlantic University. He also completed a Master of Arts in intercultural communication at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. He holds Ed.D from the University of Cincinnati in literacy in second language. In their research, Lobo and Vizcaino have focused on women as readers, action research, Hispanic students in assessment environments, and neuro linguistics geared towards language teaching. ------------------------------------------------- Coker College readies undergraduates for personal and professional success through a distinctive four-year program that emphasizes a practical application of the liberal arts as well as hands-on and discussion-based learning within and beyond the classroom.
